Tania Giannouli ensemble Greek pianist/composer Tania Giannouli follows her Rattle debut, Forest Stories (with Paulo Chagas, 2011) with a recording from the newly formed Tania Giannouli Ensemble. With influences as diverse as contemporary classical, Greek folk music, modern jazz, world music and the European avant-garde, Transcendence is an intoxicating, musically literate tour-de-force. These richly textured, beautifully balanced compositions are performed with great rigour, lyricism and passion, but above all they are strikingly honest and direct.

On stage there is an acoustic quartet: Tania Giannouli (piano), Guido de Flaviis (saxophones), Solis Barki (percussion/rare instruments), Μichalis Porfyris (cello). After her last album "Forest Stories" (a collaboration with Portuguese reeds played, Paulo Chagas, Rattle Records, 2012) which has received wide international acclaim Tania and her ensemble present the album "Transcedence". The album was listed in many "Best of 2015" album's list in Greece and abroad.

In May 2015 Tania Giannouli ensemble performed at Onassion Cultural Centre. More about it here. They have also performed at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, Patras International Festival, Thessaloniki Concert Hall (Megaro Mousikis) and abroad: Stiwa Klassik Forum, Hagenberg-Austria, Borusan Sanat, Istanbul-Turkey, Munsterland Festival- Germany, Madrid International Jazz festival- Spain.

Tania Giannouli & Rob Thorne - The ancient cultures of Greece and Aotearoa inform this expressive set of textural tapestries from pianist Tania Giannouli and one of the leading taonga pūoro exponents, Rob Thorne. REWA was recorded over a two-day period in May 2017, less than a day after Tania and Rob met for the first time. It was a potentially risky endeavour, but they agreed in advance that if nothing tangible came out of the session they would simply put it down to experience, little knowing that they were about to lay the foundations for an exceptional new album.

Tania Giannouli & Paulo Chagas - Collaboration with the portuguese wind instrumentalist and composer Paulo Chagas. A mixture of Neo-Impressionism and some contemporary European jazz, balancing elements of modal composition and free improvisation. Their first album, "Forest Stories", released by Rattle label, got very good reviews worldwide.

Spanning a remarkable range of styles, Tania Giannouli’s music is inspired by many different traditions: Cinematic, contemporary chamber, fully improvised, jazz and ethnic, all blended in an exciting way. Past projects

Schema Ensemble - Schema Ensemble was much interested in free improvisation, jazz, avant garde, in sound and its various transformations. In May 2010 they performed in Moving Silence Festival and in June 2010 they performed at the international electronic music "Synch Festival" (Technopolis-Gazi) together with Spyweirdos. The LP release "Feeling of movement" is the result of the collaboration between Schema and Spyweirdos.

4+1 - The group was created in 2007 from musicians who have coexisted in several bands in the past. Through improvisation and various musical influences, the group tries a range of sound associations, using natural instrument sound or transformed electronic sound, playing with the alternation of melody, rhythmical motives and timbre. They perform regularly in their hometown Athens. Their first cd album "Live at Sfendoni" is released by Triple Bath label.
